Did AOC grow up in the Bronx? Here's what we know

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has, for many years, reiterated and defended her ties to the Bronx — the borough of New York City that she represents a large portion of — against an onslaught of political opponents continuously bringing her roots into question.

Most recently, during a heated exchange between Ocasio-Cortez and President Donald Trump on X, a political opponent took issue with her referring to herself as a "Bronx girl" and posted alleged images of her that appeared in his yearbook from Yorktown High School, a school in the suburbs approximately 40 minutes' drive from the Bronx. Reporter Taija PerryCook has the details.

The post reads: “ICE is erasing people with Hispanic and Mexican last names from databases. A man with a Hispanic last name was stopped and showed his ID and Officers could find no record of him even under his Social Security number! The Officers knew it had to do with ICE!” A red angry face emoji is included at the end.

The claims stem from a TikTok user who says authorities couldn't find any record of him despite giving them his ID and Social Security number.
