Meijer fruit cups arrest video shared with false and unfounded claims
A rumor that spread on social media claimed a police body-camera video showed a law enforcement officer arresting a 16-year-old Meijer supermarket employee named James Denison — a person living with special needs and who faces food insecurity — at the grocery chain's Seven Hills store in Ohio.
While the video truly showed the arrest of an employee named "James" occurring at the Meijer store in Seven Hills, an examination of all available evidence found users promoted numerous inaccurate or unsupported statements about what happened. Senior Reporter Jordan Liles investigated.
