Posts claim Trump is giving Iran $14B 'handout' for oil. We drilled into rumor
A rumor spread online that Trump would give Iran a $14 billion "handout" for the country's oil.
The claim spread as the U.S. Treasury lifted sanctions on purchases of Iranian oil from the country's floating reserves. The value of this estimated amount of oil was more than $15 billion on Friday, when Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent lifted the sanctions.
