Here's What Trump Did and Didn't Say About 'President Musk'
In December 2024, as U.S. President-elect Donald Trump addressed AmericaFest in Phoenix, a screenshot of a purported post by him on Truth Social began to circulate online. The post appeared to show Trump addressing an apparent power imbalance between himself and tech billionaire Elon Musk: "I am the President-elect of the United States. Not Elon Musk. Not anyone else."
Discussions about perceived tension between Musk and Trump had been ongoing since at least the end of November, and some commenters had used the phrase "President Musk" to needle the president-elect. In this case, the screenshot was a fake. Snopes reporter Laerke Christensen has the details.
