Voting results, candidate claims, fraud accusations: Fact-checking election rumors
Our fact-checkers are hard at work analyzing suspicious election rumors after Democrats flipped Congress in a rebuke of Trump.
We compiled our midterms fact checks, examining claims like:
Did a Minnesota poll worker wear a shirt mocking Charlie Kirk's assassination?
Did the FBI find more than 20,000 fraudulent Democratic ballots in a Houston raid?
Do videos show Somali interpreters illegally filling out ballots for Maine voters?
Was Vivek Ramaswamy "booed off stage" after making a remark about millennials?
New York psychologist Larissa Portnoff accused Trump of abusing her as a child. Here's what we know
The White House denied the allegations, saying the president has never met Portnoff.
Did Elon Musk pay Haley Stevens $2M to endorse Mike Rogers?
We reviewed Stevens' campaign finance data to investigate.
Did Donald Trump Jr. say Democrats 'want to make Ohio a state'?
This quote is correctly attributed. Videos spread online showing Trump Jr. making the comment at a rally held a day before the midterms. We determined the president's eldest son likely meant to say Puerto Rico, which is a U.S. territory, after examining the footage.
Did FBI field office post 'Election Day is Wednesday'?
This claim is true. An FBI field office in Connecticut mistakenly posted the midterm elections would be held today. Election Day always takes place on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, in accordance with federal law. The post was later deleted.
