Snopes gained more than 1,000 paying members last week!

We have transitioned our focus at Snopes to building our paid membership after it became clear we could not continue to cover our expenses relying on search engines and social media — and we recently hit 10,000 paid members.

Since our announcement of that accomplishment last week we have gained more than 1,000 additional members, which is the fastest growth we've seen to date. It's an amazing credit to our fantastic community and our editorial team who works so hard to debunk the constant stream of misinformation.

Snopes Membership

By relying less on platforms and more on subscriptions to fund our operations, we can spend more time fact-checking stories that are likely to make an impact, rather than stories that have the highest chance of internet popularity.

We are getting close to covering our expenses. Please join our fact-checking mission by becoming a member.

P.S. We are almost done with our new Tips Dashboard so members can rate which potential claims we should work on. We should have it available in the next two weeks. We'll send members an update when it's live.
