Rumor Has It Trump Took Oath of Office Without Placing Hand on Bible. We Checked the Footage

Following the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th U.S. president Monday, a rumor spread online that he took the oath of office without placing his hand on a Bible.

Photos of the swearing-in ceremony showing Trump with his right hand raised and his left hand at his side — as opposed to atop the stack of Bibles first lady Melania Trump held while standing next to him — were authentic, unedited images from the ceremony. Trump also did not visibly place his left hand on the bibles at any point in the below video footage of the oath, made available by C-SPAN and The Associated Press. Snopes reporter Caroline Wazer investigated.

A Facebook post shows a white man, a dog, and a meal consisting of meat and vegetables underneath. The post says, "Started raising meat dogs at Ko'olau Ranch on Kauai, & my goal is to create some of the highest-quality ground dog in the world. The dogs are Labrador & Rottweiler, they'll grow up eating macadamia meal & drinking beer we grow & produce here on the ranch. (They're eating nuts, drinking beer, & it's all local so harvesting dogs for meat is FINE!) We want the whole process to be local and vertically integrated. My daughters help plant the mac trees & take care of our meat dogs, which adds to the ethical nature of our farm. We're still early in our dog meat journey & it's fun improving every season. Of all my projects, this is the most delicious."
