Miscaptioned Video Claims to Show NYC Celebration of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson's Death
On Dec. 4, UnitedHealthcare confirmed the company's CEO, Brian Thompson, was shot and killed in Manhattan. Two days later, a video started circulating, captioned: "NYC coming together to dance in the streets over the universal American love of CEOS." The video showed people dancing on East 11th Street in Manhattan while singing Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten."
However, while the video itself is authentic, the description is inaccurate. Our research found the original video was actually recorded on Nov. 20 by Instagram user Rachael Burke, following a Natasha Bedingfield concert at nearby Webster Hall. Snopes reporter Laerke Christensen investigated.
