As U.S. Democrats criticized the Trump administration for attacking Venezuela and capturing the country's president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, a rumor spread that the Biden administration had previously placed a $25 million bounty on Maduro.

Several political figures shared the claim, including former New York Mayor Eric Adams and Sen. Katie Boyd Britt of Alabama. Snopes reporter Anna Rascouët-Paz audited the claim.
