Does Tylenol use during pregnancy cause autism? Here's what science says

Earlier this week, President Trump suggested that taking Tylenol during pregnancy was linked to an increased risk of autism. Soon after, dozens of Snopes readers searched our website looking for information on whether Tylenol causes autism.

Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder without a single known cause. So far, there's no definitive evidence linking the use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) during pregnancy to an increased risk of autism. To unpack the claims, Snopes web producer and reporter Megan Loe dug into the existing research and spoke with medical experts.

A post from X account @tylenol says, "We actually don't recommend using any of our products while pregnant. Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns today." Products can faintly be seen in the background.

Real X-rays of person with 81 teeth?

A rumor that circulated this summer claimed two X-rays showed a person with 81 teeth. One popular Reddit post read, "An X-ray of a patient with hyperdontia (the condition of having more teeth than average). Usually adults have 32 teeth. This person had 81."

Snopes reporting intern William Kramer sank his teeth into the claim and uncovered the truth. You can read his full fact check by clicking below.
