In mid-June, a claim spread on social media that new rules implemented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs allowed doctors to refuse treatment to Democrats and unmarried veterans.

The claim appeared on Instagram, Reddit and X, often alongside a report published by The Guardian on Monday. Snopes web producer/reporter Megan Loe investigated.
